Financial Freedom?…YES PLEASE

Switching from the traditional accumulation mindset to the income snowball strategy has transformed our approach to financial freedom, focusing on cash flow and actionable steps.

It has taken over 3 years for me to write this post. I have made lists and lists of topics that I could focus on. Should I show you how I flew my family of 5 from California to Florida by using points and only paid $55 out-of-pocket? Should I explain to everyone the important rules of 5/24, 1/48 and 2/30 of the Chase and credit card world? Should I show you our financial goal and timeline?

While I will get to all of the above in later posts, I will share with you something that can drastically change how you view money. We are traditionally brought up in an accumulation mindset: after you graduate from high school or college, get a job and put money in that 401(k) for your retirement. Do you honestly think that your account will grow enough to the point where you will be able to comfortably retire at the age of 65, 66 or 67 years old? Hmmm, maybe. But I hope that is not the only thing you are relying on for your retirement. More importantly, do you want to continue your daily W2 routine until you are 65, 66 or 67 years old? For me, the answer to the second question is…..NO.

So if the accumulation method is out, what do we turn to? While researching for other ways to speed up our retirement date, we stumbled upon a financial coaching company, of which we are now a part of, called Tardus Wealth Strategies. And they taught us the income snowball and focusing on cash flow. Click here to learn more about this strategy and then click on “Watch the income snowball video” on the page.

At first, we were skeptical. It seemed like a scam. But we diligently did our research before we decided to sign up. They have been in business for 20 years and they have an A+ rating with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Tanisha Souza, a former lawyer and CEO of the organization, has a math patent on the income snowball. In addition, we did our own calculations with our personal numbers before we joined to ensure the math actually worked, and it did.

Some may say ask why they need a financial success coach. After all, in the free consultation, they give you your financial end date and the free video explains what the income snowball is. But it’s more than just knowing what to do. It’s also about implementing it and sticking to it. For instance, I know that I have said many times that I will exercise every day for at least 30 minutes and by the end of the week, I realize that I only exercised maybe once, if that. Without anyone telling me to keep on task, I fall back to my status quo.

Yes, there was a fee to actually join the organization. We have so far paid for the entire12 months of coaching and access to their resources. However, we are paying, not just for access to their entire library and knowledge regarding the income snowball, we are also paying for the accountability. We have the drive and we are acquiring all the information needed to reach our financial freedom date, but we also are humble enough to realize that we need someone else, a third party, that can tell us objectively when we start to veer off track and help guide us back to the road of financial freedom.
